I just wanted to share a beautiful picture from my trip to Rim Rock, Washington. Spent 3 days at the lake and enjoyed every minute of it. Couldn't help talking about real estate, but that is normal. This was taken from a paddle boat. The weather was fabulous, warm and calm. This is a gorgeous state we live in.
I'm heading out to Rimrock with the family for 2 days to enjoy some time on the lake and get away from the real estate market for a while. Things are still kind of slow. Prices are staying fairly flat, not dropping much. The pace of sales is very slow. The port townsend real estate market is as slow as it was in the late 90's. Just a slight correction going on. Port Townsend is still an incredible place to live and work. And this means that it is a great time to buy. More homes to choose from, etc.
To whom it may concern, So far in July through the 5th we have experienced more real estate closings than the same time period in July for 2007 and 2006! This is the best statistical news I've seen in the MLS in a long time. I thought I would share with everyone the trend. It isn't as bad as everyone thinks. At lease for the first week in July, 2008 here in Jefferson County Washington State.
Happy Fourth of July! 232 years of freedom. It doesn't feel like it has been that long. Although the country is facing some tough economic times, and probably more ahead, I know we will persevere. We will never, never, never give up. Many people are taking "staycations". Hanging out around friends and family. Many are learning to save, convserve, re-use and share. The silver lining of tough times is seeing how people help each other out. Families become closer...may we all enjoy our freedom today.
As the heat waves strike the rest of the country we are enjoying very mild and pleasant weather in Port Townsend, Washington. Real Estate is plentiful, interest rates are still low, prices are dropping. Great time to buy, AND better yet...the weather here is great if you want to get out of the heat. around 18 inches of precipitation a year. A couple of inches of snow in the winter. 90's are rare on a hot summer day. Water views abound, parks, walking trails, festivals, low crime rate...a great place to live.

So far this year the DJIA ( Dow Jones Industrial Average) is down 14.44%!! I am curious to know why people aren't taking their money out of the stock market and putting it into real estate. The selection of property on the market is higher than it has been in years. Jefferson county washington state is experiencing a slow market, but prices haven't plummetted. The time on the market has increased considerably, but the price has only come down a little. But there are more homes to choose from. This is a great time to buy. Interest rates are still very good.

Mountain Views, incredible gardens, 3 homes built in 2000. 714 P St. is 2566 square, plus a 528 sq.ft garage. 710 P street is 800 square feet, 748 P street is 600 sq.ft. PLUS there is room to build more homes. total of 5 parcels already divided. Willow is vacated and Q is vacated. Main house equipped with radiant floor heat, huge kitchen island, 4 bedrooms plus a bonus room, 3.5 bathrooms, too much to list. Only a few blocks from Fort Worden, public walking trails, farmer's market...
Why don't they make a flyer box that tells me when it is empty? Maybe a small radio chip that sends a signal when the box is empty? The sellers would be astonished at how you show up immediately after the last flyer is taken. Or maybe there should be a phone number for the buyer to call that once they call it, a text message is sent to their phone with the property information?
I thought I would share a technological idea with the world wide web.
With GPS enabled phones, they should set up a service, whereby the buyers input the property they want, and whenever they are near a listing that matches their criteria...their phone buzzes and gives them gps directions to that house, the agents number, etc. So a buyer just drives around a city they want to live and their phone guides them to the right house, and the right agent.
I would pay to put my listings in a service like that.
